I’m studying abroad in Italy this fall. I want to go to other countries while I am there, but a lot of the groups I’ve been finding for "cheap student Travel" seem questionable. Anyone have any good travel companies that were reliable, safe, and affordable? By safe and reliable, I mean I won’t be scammed.

The best way is use kayak to search for flights and hotels and then book directly with the airline or hotel.
Most online travel sites cannot be trusted since once they charge your credit card you are on your own.

are there any books or websites that give some in depth information on how the different Technologies work at the Disney resort? I want to learn how the animatronics work, how they create some of their illusions on the rides, Ect.

There are several DVD’s available from the History Channel that delve specifically into the animatronics including their latest "Lucky" (a free-roaming animatronic dinosaur).

I will receive my bachelors in sport management from Ohio University with a minor in business and am looking to find a job in a sport marketing firm primarily in Chicago or a large city. I am interested in working in marketing or sponsorship and want to focus more on business rather than Sports if that makes any sense. I am looking to work in the highest paid part of the sports industry but am not quite sure if sports marketing is it. Also, if any one knows any great sport marketing firms please list. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What is "raw material" in Science (used in plants)???

Used in production plants? Raw material is something that you take and form it into a final product. Take a chuck of steel (raw material) and mold it into a hammer (final product). Take a pile of wood (raw material), then cut it and glue it into a set of shelves (final product).

I am considering getting a seasonal job (Oct. to Dec.) and want to hind a Retail store that people have had a good experience with, and preferrable pays more than minimum wage. Another plus would be a place I could get a discount for Christmas shopping myself. What are your suggestions?

O.K, so I’m only 15, but I like photography and would like to peruse it as a career someday. I have a decent digital camera, It’s a 5mp camera with a 4x optical zoom and a pretty decent lens. It’s just a point a shoot, but I didn’t have $700 to spend on an slr. I’ve read a book that taught me about aperture and iso and stuff. Anyway, can photography be a potential career? What could I do, if it made decent money I would like shooting weddings and events and stuff (I like candid photography best) but am willing to explore other options. Know, since I’m only 15 I know I wont be making any money for awhile but what can I do now to prepare for later? I mean like practising my photography. Oh yeah, I am decent at editing my photos and have Paint Shop Pro. So, yeah, what can I do know and what should I do later?

You don’t have to tell me that your not going to be able to do photography full time starting out, I know that Photography would have to be a side job.

I started my commercia photography business over 40 years ago. I have managed to make a fairly good living out of it over the years and enjoyed all the nice benefits of being self employed. You can also do this and I have a few tips for you to get started.

It sounds to me like you are interested and have a not very flexible, but decent picture taking camera. If you don’t already have one, your next step should be a decent quality color ink jet printer (the HP series printers that use the 02 series ink cartridges will make nice color prints and can be had at a fairly resaonable cost).

Take a ton of pictures. Be very criticle of your work and start to print up a portfolio of only your best photos. Show your portfolio to anyone who seems interested in seeing it.

Enter every amateur photo contest you can find and don’t be disapointed if you don’t win them all, just keep trying.

At age 15, I assume you are probably in High School. Get on you yearbook photo staff and School Newspaper staff if you can, and work hard at it. Take any technical photography courses or classes you can find. Stay away from most artsy courses as those courses are nice but will never prepare you to make an actual living in photography. Do not take courses that are not primarily devoted to digital photography. Film photography is now basicly obsolite and all photography will soon be digital.

Don’t waste your time with college courses in photography. The few college educated photographers I have hired have to be totally retrained to be able to cope with customer needs and income producing time schedules.

Take any income producing opportunities that come yoiur way. Do weddings for your friends, models composits, portrates, babys, etc. if they are offered to you and do not work for free. Caution though… do not do anything you don’t feel you can do well. If you take photos for money and they do not represent your best efforts, your failures will come back to haunt you. If you are not confident in taking the needed picthres, don’t take the job. No one will fault you for saying that you can’t do this job, but if you try and fail at a job, people will remember.

Heya Please tell em what the difference is between linux web hosting and windows web hosting. I made my site by dreamweaver does that affect either of the 2 i should choose please tell me thanx!

Windows and Linux often use two different web server applications. Windows sites use the Windows IIS server, while nearly all Linux sites use Apache.

Linux sites focus on PHP, Perl and other open-source script languages for server side scripting. Windows-based sites use ,NET and ASP Technologies. They might also offer support for PHP.

Linux sites offer MySQL as the database for backend content storage. Windows sites will probably offer SQL Server, though some offer the Windows versions of MySQL as well.

There shouldn’t be any difference between the two if you use strict web standards in your HTML. However, you need to be aware of the fact that, since Dreamweaver is a Windows-only product, it may insert some non-standard things into your HTML. Frontpage also does this.

As long as you stick to accepted web standards and don’t use any Windows-centric stuff in your site, you should have no problems with either one.

I have a Comcast HDTV box, feeding into my Sony Bravia Home theatre system via coaxial cable, then to my HDTV via component cable. However I do not get a picture this way. I know I can connect the cable box and the home theatre system via separate component inputs, but is there a way to use both without switching inputs? Thank you!

Even if you COULD get this system to work, you wouldn’t want to. The coax cable output of the cable box will not be HD, it will be a standard SDTV signal. You want to connect the cable box to the TV using an HD compatible connection (either COMPONENT or HDMI).

If your TV has multiple COMPONENT connections, connect the cable and DVD separately. If the TV has a COMPONENT and an HDMI connection, use the HDMI from your cable (most HD cable boxes have an HDMI connection) and the COMPONENT connection from your DVD. You won’t need a switch, but you will need to use the TV’s "source select" feature to switch between TV and DVR.

Finally, if your TV has only one component input, go out and buy a component video switch (about $30 at radio shack).
